“Our house is like a rainbow!”

Posted by Hannah Rae on Aug 3, 2009 in Life in the Stubborn house

It’s been a busy weekend. On Friday, all the wall in our house were white. As of this morning, we now have sky blue walls, midnight bonfire yellow walls, pale sunshine walls, and…oh I can’t remember the color of the sandstone red…so sandstone red it is. :)

Gabe worked his tail off, with a good attitude to boot! YAY! That was a nice surprise. Jeremiah wanted to help, but had a very hard time following directions, so his “helping” was short lived.

Saturday was a marathon. I got up at 9:30 (an advantage of having older children) and started prepping the kitchen. We had primed the living room the night before, so that room was good to go. Gabe got up shortly after me and helped me get everything together. We started seriously painting at 11, after our friend Teisha showed up to offer her amazing painting skills,  and worked through the day with only short breaks for meals, parades, and such, and didn’t quit until 11:30 that night. Okay, I quit at 11:30. I think Kaleb and Gabe were up for another hour or two. In those 12 hours we got the entire living room, foyer, and kitchen DONE! COMPLETO!

I had a short panic attack, which I still can’t explain, yesterday afternoon relating to the disarray of our household at the moment. I’m not a neat freak by any means, but something triggered a mild freak out. I got over it quickly, despite my husband’s continual comments of “It’s not the end of the world!” Yeah, not helping, beloved.

Then yesterday evening, the menfolk (including the little one) worked on the dining room. I went to bed at 10 as Kaleb and Gabe were putting the first brush strokes of pale sunshine on the wall. Kaleb woke me at 2:30 AM to ask me some essential tooth fairy questions, and since my body was awake it decided it was a good time to pee. On my way to the bathroom I snuck a peak at the dining room. DONE! AMAZING!!!

When Jeremiah got up this morning, he smiled and proudly exclaimed “Mom, our house is like a rainbow!”

Hopefully, not overwhelmingly so. :)

Okay…a couple of other important notes :

  • Jeremiah could be coming home for good NEXT WEEKEND! Holy wha! I’ve got less than a week to figure out child care stuff. Eck! Good thing that’s what I do for a living.
  • This weekend was our county’s fair, which is literally in our back yard. Well, kitty corner. :) I took Jeremiah and our friend Gideon to the parade on Saturday and the boys stocked up on candy galore. I took Jeremiah to the fair yesterday, but everything was wrapping up so there wasn’t much to see.  We did get to see the greased pig competition though, which was a sight. Jeremiah wanted to participate but we (thankfully) got there just a few minutes too late. He did fall in love with a very fuzzy bunny. My little animal lover is going to tempt me, I can see this already.
  • Jeremiah lost two molars this weekend. One on each side. It’s amazing how a simple thing like playing tooth fairy can make you feel like “Mom”.

Okay. I think that’s it. :) Have a great Monday!

Blessings,

Hannah

***UPDATE***

I WILL post pictures. Be patient people! :) We are still getting the tape off and doing some touch-ups. :)
